A. Mr. Riley's Inflammatory Editorial
When Mr. Jason L. Riley, an African American member of the editorial staff of the Wall Street Journal, published a defamatory piece about HBCUs on September 28th, 2010, I was surprised and disappointed. As the editor/manager of the Gateway to HBCUs, I have been conducting systematic reviews of their academic activities -- their teaching, learning, and community service -- for the last 15 years.
This site hosts the Digital Learning Lab's "Gateway to HBCUs" -- reliable, comprehensive links to news of recent academic achievements of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), i.e., their teaching/learning, research, and community service ... plus an op-ed blog and links to useful reports.
The Best HBCUs in STEM
The National Academies recently published another blue ribbon report that raises alarms about America's imminent decline as a major economic (and political) power due to our declining production of doctorates in science and technology relative to that of other nations.
