The Negro National League restructured the way baseball was played, with legends like Josh Gibson, Satchel Page, Cool Papa Bell & others.
Black people today seem happy to be highly-compensated employees of White-owned, managed & promoted pro leagues. We once knew different.
In 1947, the Negro Leagues sent Jack Roosevelt Robinson to white Major League Baseball, insuring their ultimate demise on integration's pyre
Jack Robinson's injection of Negro League style play in2 MLB heralded the Africanization of the way the US national pastime was played.
As it fell to integration, the Negro Leagues sent White owned MLB its youth: Willie Howard Mays (Birmingham) & Henry Aaron (Indianapolis).
In the end, the Negro Leagues sent a trio, Robinson, Mays & Aaron, whose accomplishments symbolize the meaning of Africa to America.
As we "debate the meaning" of the NBA protecting its brand from overt racism, don't forget the Negro Leagues: We make progress as a group.
