Affirmative action at America's top tier private colleges and universities ... updated 9/29/18

Last update: Satirday 9/29/18
The advocates for Asian applicants who are currently challenging Harvard University's admissions policies would surely concede that all of the freshmen admitted in a particular year to a top tier university should be Ethiopian or Polish or Peloponnesian Greek if Ethiopians, Poles, or Peloponnesian Greeks were the most qualified applicants that year.

No more "MOOCs"

Last update: Monday 8/20/18
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet ..."

With all due respect to the Bard, what something is called sometimes matters a great deal. I suggest that the word "MOOC" had a clear meaning back in 2011 when it was an acronym for a "massive, open, online course" ... but not anymore.

#EdTechBiz -- Microsoft should acquire DataCamp

Last update: Wednesday 6/6/28
Now that Microsoft has gobbled up GitHub, who's next? In a recent op-ed published on Inside Higher Ed, Joshua Kim suggested that Microsoft should acquire Coursera. While I can understand why an academic would make such a recommendation, I don't think Coursera lies within Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's laser focus on the cloud and artificial intelligence (AI).
