Eventifier for Archiving/Curating Conferences, Workshops, etc

Last update: Sunday 9/28/14 @ 1:51 pm
There's a new app in town for archiving/curating events. It's called "Eventifier" and it might run Storify out of town real fast if it were a freebie; but it isn't. ... at this time ... Like Storify, free access is provided to the Webpages that @Eventifier generates that capture the tweets, photos, and Facebook Likes that are associated with an event. But after a limited trial period, the producers of each event must pay a monthly fee to keep the Webpages for their event on display.

To get an idea of how Eventifier works, consider the Eventifier Webpage for the Urban Tech Weekend conference in Houston TX (Septemter 2014) ==> HERE. As you will see, Eventifier provides an attractive user interface. The embed version, found below, is more compact.

DLL Storify of the Black Enterprise "Corner Office" Twitter Chat -- Tuesday 9/16/14

Last update: Tuesday 9/16/14 @ 10:59 pm
As part of its ongoing series of "Corner Office" Twitter Chats with successful business leaders, Black Enterprise hosted a session today that featured Ms. Anie Akpe, co-founder of IBOM LLC and publisher of Innov8tiv magazine. The DLL's storify of this session is found below.

DLL Editor's Note & Apology -- Black Enterprise posed thought-provoking questions to Ms. Apke, to which she provided a set of well-crafted and highly insightful responses. However BE's questions and Ms. Akpe responses also triggered energetic commentaries from many of the "listeners" who tuned in to the Twitter Chat.  The resulting multithreaded conversation was sometimes confusing, but always exciting to follow.

However I suspect that many listeners shared my primary interest in what Ms. Apke had to say. Accordingly, the Storify on this page is a highly  simplified reconstruction of today's discussion. It focuses on Ms. Akpe's answers to BE's questions and on her direct responses to comments made by other listeners. All of the other tweets have been deleted.

I sincerely apologize to the participants whose substantial contributions were left on the "cutting room floor" ... and I commend them to the Storify on BE's Website because it will undoubtedly capture all of most stimulating comments within the multithreaded conversation that swirled around BE's questions and Ms. Akpe's responses ... :-)

III. Back to the Future

II. Marketing and Recruitment ==> Strategic Partnership ==> Pearson PLC
As the other pieces fell into place, there was no denying that the university's strained finances could not support the kind of multimillion dollar marketing and recruitment campaigns required to launch a comprehensive array of online degree and certificate programs. We needed a strategic partner who could invest the substantial funds required for the launch in exchange for a negotiated share of the subsequent tuition revenue.

Academic Innovators as Community Organizers -- Part I

Last updated: Monday 9/1/14 @ 8:36 am
DLL Editor's Note -- An earlier version of this article was posted in March 2014

Preface
These notes recommend that HBCUs produce online programs for off-campus students at a much faster pace. The author's recent experience as the planner/community organizer of a comprehensive online initiative launched by Howard University, the wealthiest HBCU, suggests that HBCUs cannot accelerate their production of online programs fast enough by acting alone, even if they receive substantial technical and financial support from a corporate partner. If HBCUS are to assume a leadership role in the development of online programs for the nation's black students, they will have to form strategic alliances with each other wherein they pool their limited resources and share the costs and tuition revenues derived from the online programs that they develop together.
